The Palace Hotel. It is just that. A palace. It is hotel, but really, the name Palace really suits this place. It is refined, grande, luxurious, impeccably designed interior details. Gorgeous fountains. Venice-esque canals of azure water, snaking through the outside boulevard.
And now: a new souk, Souk Al Bahar.
It is fitting for the Palace, for it is not only grande and luxurious, but it is also like a mall. There are other souks & dukkans in the area, small but good for convenience - grocery stores, sunglass boutiques, a couple restaurants, a tea lounge - but this place could take the place of a mall. No, there is no Chanel, Ferragamo, Vuitton or even a hyper-market like Carrefour as most of the malls in Dubai house. But there is a a good sized Spinneys Market, a henna heritage boutique, art galleries, pharmacy, cafes and restaurants galore, as well as many men's and women's apparel boutiques. And when you are done wandering around, you can sit outside at Starbucks or Carribou along the courtyard pools, people watching and just: relax.
Check out some new pictures that I took today on my walk around:
